Mark guy

Mark is a long-time resident of the North Side, having moved into the Fineview Neighborhood in 1994 with his family.  He and his wife Christine have reared their three children, who are now all grown, in that neighborhood as an intentional way to seek exposure to, and community with, people who were different than themselves. This move was also connected to co-founding the North Side Christian Health Center, which now operates on Middle Street.  Moving into the North Side and practicing medicine there are expressions of their family’s calling and desire to bring caring action that promotes justice, community and whole person development grounded in a transforming, personal relationship with God.
Mark has practiced as a family physician in the community for some time, and although he now spends the majority of his time in an executive leadership position with AHN, still has the chance to be part of clinical work treating drug and alcohol addiction at a MAT clinic on Federal Street. Medication Assisted Treatment is part of a holistic approach to Substance Abuse Disorder, seeks to bring pharmacology, physiology, behavioral health and social services to bear on the disease of addiction.
Mark is also seeking certification as a Spiritual Director.  He is part of a two-year program to develop skills and an understanding of what it means to companion people in their growth in Christ. Participating in this course stems from a more recent realization that there is a lot of mystery and many unanswered questions in life.
For hobbies, Mark likes to go for a run, get on his bike, putz in the yard, or travel with his family.

TOM YARGO

I moved to Pittsburgh from Youngstown, Ohio in 1980. I moved to Pittsburgh to begin my Paralegal career and for 16 years worked for some of the best Real Estate and Estate & Trust Attorneys in Pittsburgh. My professional passion turned to real estate and I became a licensed salesperson in 1985. In 2003 I became a licensed Associate Broker and manage a City Office for Howard Hanna Real Estate Services. My career has been rewarding in so many ways but I am always mindful that housing is a basic human need and still the American Dream. Whatever the dream, everyone needs a place, and address to call home. We have a slogan at Howard Hanna HOME HAPPENS HERE. I like to think that my work with Garden Home Ministries will extend this belief and commitment. This opportunity to work with Garden Home Ministries in creating safe, beautiful homes for women in need is not only an opportunity for me but an obligation to do so.

COREY WESTERHOFF

Treasurer

I was born in Chicago but spent most of my early years in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. However, I have Western Pennsylvania roots, and always felt as though it was “home” and where I really belonged. After graduating from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and I went on to obtain a Master’s in Health Administration from Penn State. Since then, I have worked for 25 years in healthcare finance, first for George Washington University’s medical faculty and currently for Allegheny Health Network. I thoroughly enjoy helping people whether it be Christmas toy drives, fund raising or simple acts of kindness. My wife, Megan and I live in the north hills and I have two children. My son is a sophomore in college and my daughter is in her senior year of high school. I enjoy cooking, traveling, watching my kid’s sporting events and spending time with family and friends.
